A stellar performance by Hamza Nawaz and Shahzaib Khan, coupled with brilliant bowling from Ali Asfand and Arafat Minhas, led Pakistan U19 to an emphatic 80-run victory over Bangladesh U19 in the fifth one-day match at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi. The win sealed the series for Pakistan U19, finishing with a dominant 4-1 scoreline.
Chasing a target of 245, Bangladesh U19 faltered and were bowled out for 164 in the 37th over. Despite valiant efforts from Mohammad Shihab James (56) and captain Ahrar Amin (53), Bangladesh couldn’t overcome the strong Pakistani bowling attack. Ali and Arafat, the left-arm spin duo, claimed three wickets each, while Sajjad Ali contributed with two wickets.
Earlier, Pakistan U19 posted a competitive total of 244 for eight in their allotted 50 overs. Hamza Nawaz, deservedly named the player of the match, led the charge with a fluent 72 off 76 deliveries, including six boundaries and three sixes. Opening batsman Shahzaib Khan, who was named the player of the tournament, continued his impressive form with a solid knock of 67 from 93 balls, featuring eight fours and one six. Azan Awais (41) and Arafat Minhas (40) also made valuable contributions with the bat.
Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby was the pick of the bowlers for Bangladesh, scalping four wickets.
The two teams will face off in a solitary T20 match at the same venue on 17 May, providing another exciting opportunity for both sides to showcase their skills.
