Day Four Recap:

Chasing a modest 22-run target to win, Pakistan U19’s opening batters Shahzaib Khan and Azan Awais made quick work of the target, achieving victory in the seventh over without losing any wickets.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh U19 resumed their second innings at 166 for three in 70 overs. Night-watchman Akanto Sheikh was dismissed by Mohammad Ismail in the 81st over, and captain Sharear Sakib continued to lead his side’s innings, scoring an unbeaten 47 runs.

Sakib was joined by Zakaria Islam, and the pair added 60 runs for the sixth wicket before Islam was clean bowled by Ali Asfand in the 99th over. Just before rain arrived, Sakib completed his century. After the rain interval, Sakib was adjudged leg-before wicket to Ali for 106 runs off 235 deliveries, hitting 14 boundaries.

After the departure of Sakib with Bangladesh still trailing by nine runs and four wickets in hand, the Pakistan spinners never allowed Bangladesh to score freely. Ali and Minhas dismissed the hosts for 292 in the 126th over, with a lead of 21. Left-arm spinner Minhas claimed the last two wickets to fall and ended up with figures of three for 49, while Ali took four wickets for 66 runs and ended up with match figures of six for 103 runs.

First-innings centurion Shahzaib Khan was named player of the match for his impressive knock of 174 off 323 deliveries, which laid the foundation for Pakistan U19’s strong first-innings total of 420 all out.

The two teams will now compete in the white-ball series, which consists of five one-day matches and one T20. The one-day series will begin from 6 May.
