Pakistan Women A Clinch Victory Over Thailand Women Emerging in Rain-Affected T20 Encounter

In a rain-impacted thriller, Pakistan Women A secured a convincing eight-wicket triumph over Thailand Women Emerging in the first T20 of their two-match series.

Winning the toss and opting to field first, Pakistan Women A displayed formidable spin prowess, restricting the visitors to a modest total of 70 in the stipulated 15 overs. Nannapat Khoncharoenkai (22 runs off 20 balls) and Suwanan Khiaoto (25 not out off 26 balls) were the key contributors for Thailand Women Emerging. However, the Rameen Shamim-led spin attack proved too challenging, with Rameen herself claiming two wickets for 11 runs, supported by Omaima Sohail’s outstanding performance, taking two wickets while conceding only three runs. Left-arm spinner Saima Malik also made her mark with two wickets, allowing Thailand Women Emerging little room to build momentum.

In pursuit of the target, Pakistan Women A efficiently chased down 73 runs in 13.2 overs. Shawaal Zulfiqar, the opening batter, played a pivotal role in the victory, scoring 31 runs from 30 balls, including four boundaries. Kaynat Hafeez contributed an unbeaten 20 off 27, accompanied by Omaima Sohail’s crucial 14 not out off 13 balls, guiding the team across the finish line.

The visiting team’s bowling effort saw Kanyakorn Buntahansen and Onnicha Kamchomphu each picking up a wicket. However, it was not enough to thwart Pakistan Women A’s determined chase.

Omaima Sohail, with her impactful all-round performance, was rightfully awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant display with both bat and ball.

The second T20 showdown between the two teams is scheduled for 11th November at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, promising another exciting encounter. Cricket enthusiasts can catch the action live on the PCB YouTube Channel, with the toss set for 0930 PKT and the first ball to be bowled at 1000 PKT.
