Pakistan women cricketers are eagerly preparing to participate in an upcoming skills camp scheduled to take place in Lahore and Karachi from July 5 to July 17. The camp aims to provide a platform for players to showcase their abilities and enhance their skills under the guidance of the Pakistan women’s team support staff.
The first phase of the camp will be held at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore from July 5 to July 9. This leg of the camp will see the participation of 20 players from Lahore and surrounding areas. It offers an excellent opportunity for these talented cricketers to exhibit their skills and receive valuable guidance from the coaching staff.
Following the successful completion of the five-day Lahore leg, the skills camp will shift its focus to Karachi. The Hanif Muhammad High Performance Centre will serve as the venue for the camp from July 13 to July 17. The selection of players for the Karachi camp will be announced in due course.
The women’s skills camp will encompass a series of intensive training sessions, specifically designed and led by the support staff of the Pakistan women’s team. These sessions will allow the players to fine-tune their skills, receive expert coaching, and demonstrate their capabilities through practice matches and various scenarios. The selectors and coaching staff will closely observe the participants to identify individuals who exhibit exceptional talent, technical proficiency, and a strong competitive spirit.
The camp has invited a list of prominent players for the Lahore leg, including Aliya Riaz, Amber Kainat, Anam Amin, Bismah Maroof, Diana Baig, Dua Majid, Fatima Khan, Ghulam Fatima, Gul Feroza, Nashra Sundhu, Natalia Parvaiz, Nida Dar, Sadaf Shamas, Sadia Iqbal, Shawaal Zulfiqar, Sidra Amin, Sidra Nawaz, Tuba Hassan, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar. These players will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and vie for a place in the national team.
The coaching staff for the skills camp comprises experienced individuals. Mark Coles will serve as the head coach, while Taufeeq Umar will assume the role of batting coach. Saleem Jaffer will guide the players as the bowling coach, and Mauhtashim Rashid will be responsible for fielding coaching. The team will also benefit from the expertise of Zubair Ahmed (analyst), Rifat Asghar Gill (physiotherapist), and Asfand Khan (strength and conditioning coach).
The skills camp represents a crucial step in the development of women’s cricket in Pakistan.
