Pakistan Women Secure First Win in ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup with Dominant Victory Over Nepal

Pakistan Women’s team claimed a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over Nepal Women in a Group A match, marking their first win of the tournament.

The match featured standout performances from Sadia Iqbal, who delivered exceptional bowling, and Gul Feroza, who scored her maiden T20 International half-century. Feroza, alongside Muneeba Ali, also contributed to a record-breaking century opening partnership.

India has already qualified for the semi-finals from Group A after defeating the UAE by 78 runs in another match. India previously beat Pakistan by seven wickets in their first match, while Nepal triumphed over the UAE by six wickets in their opening game.

Winning the toss, Pakistan’s captain Nida Dar opted to field first. Nepal managed to post 108-6 in their allotted 20 overs. Pakistan’s bowlers were dominant, never allowing Nepal to settle. Fatima Sana set the tone by dismissing Suman Khadka for 4 runs, caught by Nashra Sandhu in the very first over. By the 10th over, Nepal had lost four wickets. Sadia Iqbal struck twice in one over, removing Kabita Kunwar and captain Indu Barma.

Nepal’s batting was highlighted by Kabita Joshi’s unbeaten 31, which included four boundaries and one six. Sita Rana scored 26 runs with three fours, and Pooja Mahato added 25 runs, also with three boundaries.

In reply, Pakistan chased down the target in just 11.5 overs, losing only one wicket. Openers Gul Feroza and Muneeba Ali provided a spectacular start, adding 105 runs for the first wicket, marking Pakistan’s second century opening partnership in T20Is. The previous record was set by Javeria Khan and Javeria Rauf against Ireland in 2013 with a partnership of 123 runs.

Gul Feroza scored 57 runs, hitting ten boundaries before getting out. Muneeba Ali remained unbeaten on 46, with eight boundaries.
