The Pakistan women’s cricket team is all set to compete in the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2024, scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka. Following an intensive training camp for the 15-member squad held in Karachi from 5 to 16 July, the team is poised and ready for the tournament.
Tournament Details
The eight-team tournament will run from 19 to 28 July at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Sri Lanka. The teams are divided into two groups:
- Group A: Pakistan, India, Nepal, UAE
- Group B: Bangladesh, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka
The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the final set for 28 July.
Pakistan’s Fixtures
Pakistan will begin their campaign against arch-rivals India on the evening of 19 July. The opening match of the tournament will feature Nepal and UAE earlier that day. Pakistan’s subsequent group matches are scheduled as follows:
- 21 July: Pakistan vs Nepal (1830 PKT)
- 23 July: Pakistan vs UAE (1330 PKT)
Historical Context
In the last edition of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup held in Sylhet, Bangladesh, in October 2022, Pakistan reached the semi-finals but lost to Sri Lanka by a narrow margin of one run.
