Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team’s Quest for Third Gold Medal in Asian Games Starts Tomorrow with Opener Against Indonesia

Pakistan’s national women’s cricket team is gearing up for their Asian Games campaign, eyeing their third gold medal, as they prepare to face Indonesia at the Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field in Hangzhou, China. The match is scheduled to kick off at 1400 local time.

Having secured a direct quarter-final spot due to their top-four ICC ranking in the continent, the team enters the T20 format tournament with high spirits. Their recent historic whitewash against South Africa at home has boosted their confidence.

In the T20I series against South Africa at the National Bank Stadium, opening batter Sidra Amin was a standout performer, scoring 133 runs in three matches with an impressive average of 44.33. Left-arm spinner Nashra Sundhu and fellow left-armer Sadia Iqbal led the bowling charts with four wickets each.

Pakistan women’s team previously clinched gold medals in the 2010 and 2014 editions of the Asian Games.

Captain Nida Dar expressed her team’s enthusiasm, saying, “The team is in high spirits, and every player is looking forward to the Asian Games. After practicing for two days here in Hangzhou, we are all set to play Indonesia tomorrow. The Asian Games hold a special place in our hearts, and we are determined to bring home another gold medal.”

The team’s recent comprehensive victory over South Africa in the T20I series has given them momentum, and they are eager to showcase their skills on the field once again.

The semi-finals are scheduled for September 24, with the final taking place on September 25. The bronze medal match will also be held on the same day as the final at 0900 local time.
