Pakistan’s pride, Sophiya Anjam, was recently honored with the prestigious “Best Upcoming Radio Host & MC” award at the Gulf News & Being She Excellence Awards held at the iconic Museum of the Future in Dubai. The ceremony, graced by notable dignitaries including Shaikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, former Minister in the UAE government, celebrated the achievements of women across various sectors such as business, health, media, the arts, and technology.
The 2024 awards saw significant participation from women excelling in their respective fields. Sophiya Anjam, popularly known as RJ Sophie, was selected by the jury from a pool of distinguished candidates, marking a significant milestone in her illustrious career.
RJ Sophie began her journey in media with FM91, captivating audiences with her radio shows “Head Over Heels” and “Drive On With Sophie.” Her versatility led her to host TV shows like “Weekend World With Sophie” on PTV World, “Signature Tunes” on PTV Home, and “Lalkar” on TVOne. Known for her charismatic presence, she has become the go-to MC for major events in Pakistan and has also made her mark as a voice-over artist.
Beyond her on-air presence, Sophiya is the founder of “The S Studio,” an inclusive space for content creators, and an instructor for the Center for Executive Education at LUMS, where she teaches hosting. She completed her media training in Washington DC and Chicago, further honing her skills. Her dedication to social causes is evident through her roles as an ambassador for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
In a heartfelt Instagram post, Sophiya expressed her gratitude for the recognition and appreciation she has received. “This award is not just for me but for every Pakistani woman who dreams big and works hard to achieve her goals. I am grateful for the support of my family, friends, and fans who have been with me throughout this journey,” she shared.
After her triumph in Dubai, Sophiya Anjam is set to extend her influence to the UAE airwaves with her upcoming evening drive-time radio show on VibeFM105.4, launching this July. As she continues to make waves internationally, Pakistan beams with pride at her accomplishments.
