Colombo Strikers, the newest team to join the Lanka Premier League (LPL) this year, made an exciting announcement on Tuesday as they unveiled their star-studded lineup of Icon Players. Among the notable additions are Pakistan’s Captain Babar Azam and talented fast bowler Naseem Shah, along with Sri Lankan T20 stars Matheesha Pathirana and Chamika Karunaratne.
The inclusion of Pakistan’s batting sensation, Babar Azam, has undoubtedly added immense value to the Colombo franchise. Babar, known for his top-order brilliance, has amassed an impressive 9,201 runs in 260 T20 matches, maintaining a remarkable average of 44.02.
Joining Babar in the squad is the young and promising fast bowler, Naseem Shah. With his exceptional pace and skill, Naseem will be a crucial asset to lead the Colombo Strikers’ bowling attack alongside Matheesha Pathirana. Naseem has already showcased his talent by taking 73 wickets in 76 matches, boasting an impressive average of 29.75.
Matheesha Pathirana, a 20-year-old rising star in the world of cricket, has made a significant impact in T20s with his exceptional performances. The fast bowler has taken 22 wickets in just 20 matches at an impressive average of 22.36. His inclusion in the Colombo Strikers further strengthens their bowling arsenal.
Additionally, the experienced bowling all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne will play a vital role in the team’s success. With 60 wickets and 726 runs in 93 T20 matches, Karunaratne brings a wealth of experience and versatility to the Colombo Strikers’ lineup.
