PCB and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Pave the Way for Women’s Cricket Development

In a significant stride toward advancing women’s cricket, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has inked a pivotal understanding of a lease agreement with Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU), Peshawar. This collaborative effort aims to nurture and bolster women’s cricket in the region through dedicated infrastructure and facilities.

The agreement solidifies the collaboration between the PCB and SBBWU, with the university offering its cricket ground on lease to facilitate the establishment of a cutting-edge cricket academy exclusively dedicated to the development of women’s cricket.

At the core of this alliance is the shared vision to provide superior training facilities and services, catering to the needs of aspiring women cricketers. The availability of hostel facilities at SBBWU will further enhance accessibility for women cricketers from across the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ensuring convenient proximity to the cricket ground.

Tania Mallick, Head of Women’s Cricket at PCB, expressed enthusiasm about this significant partnership, aligning with the PCB’s steadfast commitment to fostering the growth of women’s cricket. She emphasized that the upcoming academy would serve as a central hub for skill development, aiming to empower and elevate women’s cricket in the region.

Welcoming this initiative, Prof. Dr. Safia Ahmed, the Vice Chancellor of SBBWU, Peshawar, extended her support and eagerness to collaborate closely with the PCB. Dr. Safia emphasized the joint efforts to uplift women’s cricket, highlighting the university’s dedication to advancing the prospects of women athletes in the cricketing arena.
