The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the induction of Inzamam-ul-Haq, Misbah-ul-Haq, Mushtaq Mohammad, and Saeed Anwar into the PCB Hall of Fame 2024, recognizing their remarkable contributions to Pakistan cricket. These cricketing legends join a prestigious group of icons, including Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, and Wasim Akram, among others.
The inductees were chosen through a transparent and independent voting process, involving prominent figures such as Wasim Akram, Zaheer Abbas, Azhar Ali, and Bismah Maroof, alongside respected cricket journalists and analysts.
The formal induction ceremony, where the stalwarts will receive commemorative caps and specially-designed plaques, will take place later this year.
Inductees’ Achievements:
Inzamam-ul-Haq:
- Pakistan’s leading ODI run-scorer (11,701) and third-highest Test run-scorer (8,829).
- A pivotal player in Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup triumph, scoring match-winning knocks in the semifinal and final.
- Accumulated 25 Test centuries and 10 ODI centuries, with several match-winning contributions.
- Served as Pakistan’s captain, leading in 31 Tests and 87 ODIs, and as Chief Selector twice.
Misbah-ul-Haq:
- Pakistan’s most-capped Test captain, leading in 56 matches with 26 wins.
- Guided Pakistan to the top of the ICC Test rankings in 2016.
- Known for his resilience and leadership, Misbah played a key role in Pakistan’s ICC T20 World Cup 2009 victory.
- Holds the record for the fastest Test fifty (21 balls) and joint second-fastest century (56 balls).
Mushtaq Mohammad:
- An accomplished all-rounder with 3,643 Test runs, 79 wickets, and a captaincy record of eight wins in 19 matches.
- Achieved the rare feat of scoring a double-century and taking five wickets in an innings in the same Test.
- Instrumental in Pakistan’s first-ever Test win in Australia (1977) and coached the team to the 1999 World Cup final.
- Among the pioneers of the reverse-sweep, Mushtaq also excelled in first-class cricket with over 31,000 runs and 936 wickets.
Saeed Anwar:
- One of Pakistan’s finest openers, Saeed scored 20 ODI centuries, a record that still stands for Pakistan.
- Famous for his elegant technique, he amassed 8,824 ODI and 4,052 Test runs, including a then-record 194 in an ODI against India.
- Excelled in ICC World Cups, being Pakistan’s leading scorer in the 1996, 1999, and 2003 editions.
The PCB has inducted four icons this year due to no additions in 2023, ensuring their rich cricketing legacy is appropriately celebrated.
