In a riveting semi-final clash at Pindi Cricket Stadium, Peshawar showcased their dominance, clinching a commanding victory by 44 runs over FATA. Having secured the top spot in the points table earlier, Peshawar’s solid performance ensured their place in the final of the Pakistan Cup.
Opting to bat first, Peshawar set a target of 246 runs. Sahibzada Farhan led the charge with an impressive 69 off 76 balls, ably supported by Adil Amin’s brisk 56 not out. However, FATA’s bowling unit, led by Shahid Aziz with three wickets, restricted Peshawar to 245 for 7 in their allotted 45 overs.
In response, FATA began their chase but stumbled, losing wickets at regular intervals. Despite Mohammad Sarwar Afridi’s valiant effort of 56 off 45 balls, FATA faltered, managing only 201 in 41.1 overs. Peshawar’s bowlers shone brightly, with Mohammad Abbas Afridi leading the pack, claiming three crucial wickets for 34 runs.
The middle order of FATA failed to contribute significantly, unable to withstand the onslaught of Peshawar’s bowling attack, which included Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Imran, and Azam Khan, each scalping two wickets.
The victory paved the way for Peshawar to enter the Pakistan Cup final, showcasing their prowess in both batting and bowling departments, setting the stage for an enthralling title clash.
