In a landmark move, Peshawar Zalmi (Zalmi Foundation) and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Government’s Higher Education Department and Counter Violence Extremism (KP CVE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote youth activities, sports, and women’s empowerment in the province.
The MoU was signed at the Chief Minister’s House in KP, with Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, Peshawar Zalmi President Inzamam-ul-Haq, Director Cricket Muhammad Akram, Zalmi Mentor Kamran Akmal, Zalmi star Muhammad Haris, and other provincial ministers in attendance.
Key Initiatives Under the MoU:
- Empowering Women Through Sports:
- Launch of the Zalmi Women League to involve women in sports and create opportunities for their success in diverse fields.
- Youth Development and Engagement:
- Programs to engage the youth in positive activities, fostering talent development and steering them away from negative influences.
- Social Harmony Measures:
- Organizing workshops and community events to promote tolerance, unity, and inclusiveness among various communities in the province.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur emphasized the historic steps being taken for sports and women’s empowerment, stating:
“Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in collaboration with Peshawar Zalmi, will take monumental steps towards fostering sports and empowering women, creating avenues for youth to excel.”
Chairman of Peshawar Zalmi and Zalmi Foundation, Javed Afridi, reiterated the organization’s dedication to youth and women’s advancement:
“Our top priority has always been providing opportunities to youth and women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This partnership ensures a collaborative effort towards achieving this vision.”
Director Cricket Peshawar Zalmi, Muhammad Akram, also expressed his commitment to the province:
“We will work together with the KP government to promote cricket, build new pitches, and launch a Women’s Cricket League, paving the way for new talent to emerge.”
This strategic collaboration marks a significant step toward community development and counter-radicalization in KP, promising long-term benefits for youth and women in the province.
