PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week - March 2016 Day-4

The Pakistan Fashion Design Council in collaboration with Sunsilk presented the fourth and final day of the ninth PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week. Indeed the 9th PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week marked the fourteenth fashion week platform initiated by the Pakistan Fashion Design Council [with eight weeks of prêt-à-porter and five of bridal fashion] and was a direct manifestation of the Council’s commitment to sustainability and discipline within the business of fashion and the facilitation of Pakistan’s retail industry. Indeed #PSFW15 endeavoured to define and present trends for 2016, focusing specifically on fashion for the regions’ long hot summer months. Day-4 featured High-Street Fashion shows by the MBM, HSY Limited, Shirin Hassan and Sobia Nazir and a designer prêt-à-porter show by Deepak Perwani followed by voile shows featuring Alkaram, Khas, Warda Prints, House of Ittehad, Harmony by Hang Ten and Gul Ahmed.

This is a pioneering new platform whereby we have introduced a first of its kind specialized and dedicated space for fashion showcases, trunks shows and exhibitions all year round – not just limited to seasonal fashion weeks. We bring to all productions at the Active the spirit of mentorship, through the seasoned experience of the PFDC’s executive council, event production, modelling and choreography teams, fashion styling expertise, photography, collection editing services and a panel of fashion and business experts to produce fashion content for brands; a complete fashion experience as it were.” said Sehyr Saigol, Chairperson of the PFDC Council.

MBM

MBM made their PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week debut with their High-Street collection titled “Chromodope – Rango Ka Nasha”. For this collection, colour palette played a major role with strong and vibrant fluorescent and neon colors. Champagne Crystals and Swarovski were added to the necklines and cuffs to add glamour to the collection. Translucent and flowy fabric was used in the collection and aesthetically incorporated with printed silk and cotton designed specifically for this collection. With trendy cuts and silhouettes, the collection comprised of over flown capes, jackets, skirts and culottes with pleated voluminous skirts supported with t-shirts to give it an edgy look with experimental lowers with chic tops including jogger pants, pleated pants and wrap around pants.

HSY Limited

The HSY Limited collection in collaboration with the Kashf Foundation followed on the 4th day of #PSFW16. Indeed this collection was borne out of HSY’s commitment to empower more women and lesser privileged communities in Pakistan as part of his mantra, Giving is the new Achieving – an initiative that he first launched in 2014 with his Sher collection. The collection payed homage to the rural working women in Pakistan and is a representation of the Kashf Foundation’s 20 year journey. Inspired by strong, independent women from all walks of life, the HSY Limited for Kashf Foundation collection combines a variety of functional yet chic outfits, in neutral, earthy tones. With shorter hemlines and fuller pants with focus given to unique textures and detailed craftsmanship; in mercerized cotton, chiffon, organza and silk, the collection was made up of wearable, easily layered separates that can be styled in different ways so as to let your personality shine through. Though the collection lays such a strong focus on traditional craftsmanship, the end result was truly practical and contemporary.

Shirin Hassan

Shirin Hassan’s PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2016 collection is titled ‘Aurora’. Inspired by a bohemian lifestyle, it is a modern, on-trend collection with summer hues and bold motifs. The collection focused on contemporary elegance with a unique assortment of embellishments, which entails intricate hand crafted add-ons, bold motifs, striking full skirts with emphasis on stitching with a blend of contemporary and ethnic. With a bright color palette with different cuts, the collection also comprised of blockprints and solid color ensembles such as eye-popping parrot green, gold, white, hot pink and the usual dose of striking black makes up the flamboyant range.

Sobia Nazir

Sobia Nazir showcased her High-Street collection “SN MAX” at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2016. The inspiration behind the collection is taken from the concept of minimalism; the idea of less is more and clean lines using flowers as adornments from soft, watercolour petals to full-on flower power. “SN MAX” incorporated minimal silhouettes with a blend of geometric, floral, and artsy prints on materials such as cottons, leatherettes, organza, nets and silks. The colour palette for this collection integrated softer hues ranging from Rose Quartz, Peach Echo, Serenity, Snorkel, Blue, Buttercup, Lavender, Limpet Shell, and Fiesta to Iced Coffee and Green Flash with an accent of Chrome Gold that offers a sense of calm and relaxation. The geometric mashup, fractal flora and white-out prints were adorned using sequins, pearls, apliques, embroideries and studs/eyelets with a mix of 3D elements.

Deepak Perwani

For this PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2016, Deepak Perwani showcased a collection titled ‘The Return of the DPhilosophy’. Inspired by the modern Pakistani woman, the collection featured Silks, chiffons chamois, rawsilk with cuts that are modern keeping the contemporary fashionable Pakistani woman in mind. With a colour palette comprising of black, white, honey gold and a tirade of color splash, the collection featured trousers, palazzos, skirts and asymmetrical hemlines. Deepak also showcased five menswear pieces in the collection. Television and film personality Viqar Ali Khan walked the ramp as the brand’s celebrity showstopper.

Alkaram Studio

Textile and retail brand, Alkaram Studio showcased their Spring Summer 2016 collection in the voile show segment at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2016. Inspired by the season of travel and resorts, the designs comprised of vintage florals paired with crochets and lace with bold peacock and preppy Ajrak prints. Zari, Macrame and Corneli lace work embellished with crystals and stones adorn the streamlined silhouettes for the collection. The menswear pieces featured contemporary color blocking, textured embroideries and denim finishes. Luxurious nets in vibrant reds and navy blues bring the retro boldness of sophisticated cruise wear while pastel hued chikankaris and jacquards mixed with sun kissed tans and golds highlight the ease of contemporary elegance.

Khas

Khas showcased their ‘Khas Premium Lawn 2016’ at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week. With modern trendy prints inspired by the intricacy and delicacy of nature and geometrical designs, the collection comprised of vibrant hues infused with pastel shades.

Warda Prints

Warda Prints’ PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2016 collection was titled ‘The Story of Frida Kahlo’. An ode to the great artist and her work, the collection featured Victorian and gothic accents in their alluring designs that embody sophistication and glamour. With designs influenced by Frida Kahlo, a Mexican painter known for self-portraits, her influence was apparent in the use of bright colors, dramatic symbolism and primitive style. The color palette comprised of feminine pastels for day wear to deep sultry plums and burgundy for a rich look.

House of Ittehad

House of Ittehad’s PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week collection was titled ‘Pastel Fantasies’. Inspired by nature collection is based in floral prints, fabric qualities includes lace fabric, chiffons, Nets, lawn. This year it’s all about mixture of delicate embellishments and stone work. The trends highlighted for this season were pastels and floral prints. The collection featured sixteen pieces with diverse colors and cuts.

Harmony by Hang Ten

Harmony by Hang Ten showcased its ‘Ethnic Fusion’ collection this March at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2016. The collection is inspired by hand embroidered Indian Kantha, Truck Art & Floral Motifs and was based in diverse color palette moving from a very subtle tone like powder pink, whites, grays to vibrant & eye catching colors like hot pink, orange & turquoise. The showcase also featured select menswear pieces. The trends highlighted in this collection were capes and jackets along with flared pants.

Gul Ahmed

Day 4’s finale featured Gul Ahmed with their Spring/Summer 2016 collection at the PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week. Inspired by ‘you’, the customer Gul Ahmed, the collection payed homage to the local culture and heritage. This year the organic fabric has changed the fashion paradigm, including bamboo & soya silk in a variety of styles focusing on the seasonal trends. With a mix of prints and adornments, the collection comes in an exquisite combination of bright summery color palette with colorful floral prints and flowing cuts.
