The tournament’s second round ignited with a flurry of accomplishments. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) commenced their first game with a bang, setting a total of 327-7 against Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA). The highlight was Awais Zafar, a 23-year-old sensation, who crafted a stunning maiden first-class century, a resolute 178 not out, steering HEC’s innings with grace. WAPDA, in response, ended the day at 55-1.
At State Bank Stadium, Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) clashed with Ghani Glass. Despite KRL’s tight bowling, Ghani Glass rallied to reach an imposing total of 363-7, anchored by Saeed Malik’s remarkable unbeaten ton at number seven.
Pakistan Television (PTV) chose to bat first at UBL Sports Complex, posting a commendable 317 runs. Skipper Uzair Mumtaz led the charge, scoring a stellar 108, propelling PTV to a competitive total. Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) showed resilience, concluding the day at 20-0.
Day 2:
The action intensified on the second day, witnessing an exhibition of magnificent batting. WAPDA’s Iftikhar Ahmed showcased exceptional form, securing his second century of the tournament, amassing 123 runs. KRL’s Maaz Sadaqat and Sarmad Bhatti’s partnership salvaged their innings, with Maaz scoring an unbeaten 84. SNGPL’s Abid Ali and Omair Bin Yousuf formed a formidable partnership, contributing substantially to their team’s commanding total of 424-7.
Day 3:
Thrilling turnarounds and intense contests dominated the penultimate day. HEC’s Mohammad Junaid impressed with a crucial three-wicket haul, while KRL clinched a nail-biting one-wicket victory against Ghani Glass. SNGPL’s Arif Yaqoob’s extraordinary performance with a ten-wicket haul stood out, leading his team to victory against PTV.
Day 4:
