The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) faced yet another embarrassment as the LIVE broadcast of the Multan Sultans vs Karachi Kings match in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 suffered a 15-minute outage in several countries, including India.
The outage occurred during the fourth over of the match at the Multan Cricket Stadium, leaving viewers in Pakistan, India, England, UAE, and other nations frustrated as they were unable to follow the action live.
In India, where cricket enjoys immense popularity, fans resorted to alternative platforms such as FanCode for live streaming. However, to their dismay, even FanCode experienced technical difficulties, adding to the frustration of cricket enthusiasts.
Both A Sports and Ten Sports, the broadcasters with rights in Pakistan, are yet to issue a statement regarding the outage, leaving fans questioning the reliability of the broadcasting arrangements.
Tapmad, which holds the rights for PSL 2024 Live Streaming, acknowledged the issue and issued a statement attributing the outage to technical difficulties.
“We regret to inform you that the live feed for HBL PSL 9 is currently experiencing technical issues, causing an interruption in the broadcast. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding,” Tapmad said in a tweet.
The outage sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, with some expressing amusement at the recurring technical issues faced by the PSL.
“Apparently PSL broadcast is interrupted all over the world… What a strange league…,” tweeted one user, highlighting past incidents that have marred the tournament.
Another user lamented, “PSL is said to be the second-best T20 league where matches are stopped due to technical and broadcast issues.”
Meanwhile, in England, where the PSL broadcast was down, Sky Sports aired a video package of a Virat Kohli net training session, providing an alternative for disappointed viewers.
Despite the setback, cricket fans and stakeholders hope for swift resolutions to such technical challenges, ensuring uninterrupted coverage of the remainder of the PSL 2024 season.
