PSL 9 Supplementary and Replacement Players Unveiled

In preparation for the highly anticipated ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), several supplementary and replacement players have been introduced to the squads, following the Replacement Draft held via conference call on Monday.

Peshawar Zalmi made significant announcements regarding their replacements, securing Waqar Salamkheil in the silver category as a replacement for Lungi Ngidi, who will be unavailable for the entire season. Additionally, fast bowler Khurram Shahzad’s partial availability prompted the drafting of pacer Arshad Iqbal in the silver category. Gus Atkinson has been enlisted to replace Noor Ahmed, while the pick for the replacement of partially available Naveen ul Haq has been reserved.

Lahore Qalandars have reserved their picks for Rashid Khan, who is fully unavailable, and Dan Lawrence, who will be partially unavailable during the tournament.

Meanwhile, Islamabad United also reserved their pick for Tom Curran, who will not be part of the squad for this edition of the PSL. Karachi Kings opted for Zahid Mehmood as a partial replacement for Kieron Pollard, with a pick reserved for Tim Seifert, who will join the team after the conclusion of the New Zealand T20Is.

Quetta Gladiators have appointed Bismillah Khan to replace Wanindu Hasaranga, who will depart during the tournament due to international commitments.

The Supplementary Draft saw notable acquisitions, with left-arm pacers Luke Wood and Obed McCoy being snapped up by Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United, respectively. Karachi Kings selected English middle-order batter Leus De Plooy, while Lahore Qalandars secured the services of Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa.

Multan Sultans added experience to their roster with the inclusion of West Indian wicketkeeper-batter Johnson Charles, while Quetta Gladiators drafted English batter Laurie Evans.

The fourth round of Supplementary Picks witnessed exciting additions, with Sultans acquiring the promising 19-year-old Muhammad Shahzad. Islamabad United welcomed Haider Ali, a seasoned campaigner set to feature in his fifth PSL season. Peshawar Zalmi drafted left-arm wrist spinner Sufiyan Muqeem, while Lahore Qalandars picked Tayyab Abbas from their player development program. Karachi Kings finalized their squad with the addition of 21-year-old Mohammad Rohid.

As anticipation builds for the upcoming PSL season, these new signings promise to add depth and excitement to the tournament.
