PTV Clinch Victory as President’s Trophy Nears Its Conclusion

The eighth round of the President’s Trophy Grade-I wrapped up with Pakistan Television (PTV) securing a commanding six-wicket win over Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) at NBP Sports Complex. Elsewhere, KRL and Eshaal Associates settled for a draw, while HEC successfully saw off WAPDA’s challenge in another drawn encounter.

PTV Chase Down 255 to Claim Victory

Resuming their second innings at 13 for no loss, PTV wasted no time in their pursuit of 255, wrapping up the chase in 53.4 overs with six wickets in hand. Mohammad Shahzad led the charge, smashing a 74-ball 69, laced with six boundaries and three sixes. His aggressive intent kept OGDCL’s bowlers under pressure, allowing Taimur Khan (32 not out) to calmly guide the team home.

The result marked an emphatic performance from PTV, who had already seen a stellar knock from Imam-ul-Haq (158) in the first innings. Despite OGDCL’s spirited resistance, PTV’s dominance ensured a comfortable win.

KRL’s Declaration Not Enough to Force a Result

At State Bank Stadium, KRL threw everything at Eshaal Associates, declaring their second innings at 335 for five, setting a mammoth 490-run target. The game looked poised for a tense finish, but Eshaal Associates dug in, reaching 277 for six when stumps were drawn. Abdullah Shafique (75), Abdul Rehman (64), and Abdul Wahid Bangalzai (62) showed resilience, frustrating KRL’s attack.

Despite Sajid Khan’s three-wicket haul, Eshaal Associates ensured a hard-fought draw, denying KRL a crucial outright win.

WAPDA’s Late Declaration Ends in Stalemate

Meanwhile, at KCCA Stadium, WAPDA pushed for a result by declaring their second innings at 412 for seven, setting HEC a 350-run target. However, the chase never truly got underway as Ali Taj (65 not out) and Mohammad Mohsin Khan (59 not out) played out 32 overs to take HEC to 130 for one at stumps, securing a draw.

Earlier in the day, Ayaz Tasawar’s unbeaten century had given WAPDA hope of forcing a result, but HEC’s batters ensured there would be no final-day drama.

What’s Next?

With the eighth round now concluded, teams will turn their attention to the final round of the President’s Trophy, set to begin on Tuesday, 25 February. With only one round remaining, the race for the top remains intense, and teams will be eager to make their last push for glory.
