Pakistan Television (PTV) has been the trend setter and touch-stone of quality TV broadcast in the region for years. With the dawn of 21st century, there has been in influx of private TV channels which came with dozen of options in terms of entertainment as well as infotainment shows.
Tough, it is an argument today that PTV has lost the charm it once had because of no competition and the main reason for that let such arguments gain some weight is the TV ratings. Well, the whole concept of rating and calculation is debatable but one should not forget that almost ever TV channel has looked up to the PTV model when it comes to capturing the market and viewers.
Even in this time when PTV is considered as “Irrelevant”, the state broadcaster is doing well with the quality content and line of shows that are worthwhile as well as a useful watch. The legal chat show of PTV home and PTV News, Qanoon Bolta Hai is one such example.
In the era of talk shows and good for nothing political discussion taking over not only prime time but also tea time and afternoons of our air time, Qanoon Bolta Hai hosted by Barrister Fatima Shaheen is still a show that is prepared and aired with the aim to provide useful information to the viewer, create awareness about the legal rights, and education viewers that how law can actually influence or help them.
