Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2024-25: Imran Dogar and Ali Zaryab Shine as Lahore Whites Stage a Fightback

A maiden first-class century by Imran Dogar and a resilient knock by Ali Zaryab helped Lahore Whites recover strongly on the second day of their match against Sialkot. Lahore Whites closed the day at 240/2 in 58.2 overs, still trailing Sialkot’s formidable first-innings total of 465 by 225 runs.

With Ali Zaryab holding the fort and ample wickets in hand, Lahore Whites will look to further reduce the deficit and put pressure on Sialkot. However, Sialkot’s bowlers will be eager to capitalize on the new ball on Day 3 to regain control.

Lahore Whites’ Innings: Strong Start

  • Openers Imran Dogar (132 off 177 balls) and Ali Zaryab (91 off 173 balls)* put on a mammoth 233-run stand for the first wicket, effectively neutralizing Sialkot’s early dominance.
  • Dogar, in particular, was aggressive, hitting 18 boundaries and two sixes en route to his maiden first-class century before falling to Zia-ul-Haq.
  • Ali Zaryab, playing the anchor role, remained unbeaten and will aim to convert his solid start into a big score on Day 3.

Sialkot’s First Innings Recap: Azan Awais Stars Again

  • Resuming at 336/4, Sialkot posted a commanding 465 in 119.3 overs.
  • Azan Awais, who was the standout performer on Day 1, could only add five runs to his overnight score before being bowled by Hikmatullah for a sublime 168 off 293 balls (19 fours).
  • Mohsin Riaz (51 off 69 balls) chipped in with a quickfire half-century, ensuring Sialkot crossed the 450-run mark.

Bowling Performances:

  • For Lahore Whites, Mohammad Waheed was the pick of the bowlers, claiming his maiden five-wicket haul with figures of 5/124.
  • Hikmatullah complemented Waheed’s efforts with 3/83, including the prized scalp of Azan Awais.
