Quality speaks for itself be it from any platform: Asma Chaudhry talks about her digital venture

Asma Chaudhry is one of the multifaceted media personality, she has spent her time at the both ends of the camera as well as has a hands on experience of working with both print and electronic media. The award-winning news anchor has always been praised for her way of conducting the show, her content and research.

These days Asma is on a break from the mainstream media and she has also joined the OTT content platform YouTube to produce digital content and shows.

While talking to MediaSpringPK, Asma said that the world is rapidly adapting to digitization and hence it is pertinent that we all start using the digital platforms to stay connected with the world. She further said:

“Though my YouTube channel, I intend to keep my fans and followers updated on a regular basis regarding developments in the country specifically and in the world in general.”

When asked if the shrinking space is the reason behind a rapid acceptance of digital medium Asma replied:

“Space in the media is not shrinking rather it is otherwise but I believe credibility and quality is being compromised because of the same, however, quality speaks for itself be it from any platform.”

 

Hailing from Islamabad, Asma Chaudhry holds a masters degree in mass communications. Asma has not only launched her channel abut also is looking after all the technical aspects herself.

 

Asma has been associated with broadcast journalism for over fifteen years. She started her career as Sub Editor in Jang Group of News Papers.

She also been associated with PTV as a Producer. She also won the PTV Award for her production Vision Pakistan in 2003.

 

 

She, later, joined Geo News as a senior producer and Diplomatic Correspondent. Geo turned out to be her shot to fame where she hosted the hugely popular TV program ‘Parliament Cafeteria’ live from Parliament with prominent political personalities of Pakistan. As a special diplomatic correspondent, she also covered 2005 Elections, SAARC Summit, UK Election 2005, US Presidential Elections 2008, and also visited USA, UK, India, Germany, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Turkey, China and Bangladesh with reference to special assignments.

 

 

Asma also participated in IVLP arranged by state department of USA on Documentary Productions and Film Making.

Asma was also the first female journalist who went to Afghanistan in 2005 for field reporting and to interview Taliban.

 

 

She was also part of the pioneer team of Dunya news and worked there for four years as a Senior Anchor person as well as Senior Analyst.

 

 

In 2011, Asma Chaudhry won the Best Anchor Current Affair Female Award in 2nd Pakistan Media Award.

 

 

Asma has also served at Dawn News as the Deputy Editor Research & Analysis as well as Senior Anchor. She was Senior Anchor Person/Analyst for one and half year at Capital TV.

 

 

She later on became part of the launching team of another channel when she got with Channel 24 First Pakistani Current Affairs Channel as Senior Anchor Person and Analyst.

 

 

Her last assignment with news channel was with NEO News as a senior anchor and analyst which was my last assignment with a news channel.

 

In 2013, Asma Chaudhry bagged ‘Benazir Excellence Award’ for outstanding contribution in the field of journalism.
