Quetta Gladiators CM Balochistan Women T20 tournament starts in Quetta

The Quetta Gladiators CM Balochistan All Pakistan Women Cricket Tournament 2021, featuring five teams, has started here at the Bugti Stadium.


The tournament is first of its kind in the region which has seen the best women cricketers from all over Pakistan taking part in the event which has been possible due to collaboration between PSL franchise Quetta Gladiators and government of Balochistan.

The teams are Balochistan Thunders, Punjab Warriors, Sindh Strikers, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Stars and Gilgit Baltistan Smashers.

The opening ceremony of the competition was attended by Quetta Gladiators owner Nadeem Omar, Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal Khan and other top officials of the province.

The event exploded into action with Nadeem Omar delivering the first ball to the CM Jam Kamal Khan.

Nadeem Omar said that such tournaments are being staged to improve image of Quetta and Balochistan and to provide platform to young cricketers of Pakistan.
“This is a historic occasion as we have started a women T20 tournament which will help the women cricketers of Pakistan and will send a positive message from the region,” Nadeem said.

“I’m grateful to CM Jam Kamal for this wonderful collaboration as we both share same ideology of providing opportunities to athletes of Balochistan.”
Nadeem further added that Quetta Gladiators will continue to host such events in future to promote the soft image of Quetta and Pakistan in the world.
The chief guest of the event CM Balochistan Jam Kamal said that the event will boost the confidence in the female cricketers and will promote the talent of the province.

He also wished to host Pakistan Super League matches at the Bugti Stadium after the successful hosting of this event.

CM Balochistan asked the Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Ehsan Mani to install Flood lights at the Bugti Stadium and improve the infrastructure of the stadium.
The opening ceremony was attended by Zia Langu Interior Minister Balochistan, Abdul Khaliq Hazara Minister Sports, Imran Gichki Secretary Sports and Youth Affairs, Director General Sports Balochistan Durra Baloch and many others.
