Quetta Gladiators’ Abrar Ahmed and Saud Shakeel have both been fined five per cent of their match fees for Level 1 breaches of the Pakistan Super League’s code of conduct during their side’s fixture against Islamabad United.
Abrar Ahmed was found to have disobeyed an umpire’s instruction during the match, a violation of Article 2.4 of the PSL Code of Conduct. The incident occurred in the 19th over of Islamabad United’s batting when Abrar, while fielding, rolled the ball along the ground despite being instructed by the umpires not to do so.
In a separate incident during the same match, Saud Shakeel was found to have violated Article 2.5 of the PSL Code of Conduct. He was penalized for using language, actions, or gestures that could disparage or provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal. Saud’s remarks, made after dismissing United’s batter Salman Ali Agha in the 12th over, were deemed provocative.
Both players pleaded guilty to the charges and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Mohammad Javed. The charges were imposed by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Chris Gaffaney.
These actions highlight the importance of upholding the spirit of the game and respecting the authority of match officials. The PSL remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of conduct on and off the field.
