Quetta’s Bowlers Shine as Islamabad Stumbles in Hanif Mohammad Trophy

The final round of the super-four stage of the Hanif Mohammad Trophy 2023-24 kicked off with an intense encounter at Multan Cricket Stadium, where Quetta showcased their bowling prowess against Islamabad.

Opting to bat first, Islamabad found themselves in trouble right from the beginning. Quetta’s bowlers dominated the proceedings, ultimately bowling out Islamabad for a modest total of 150 runs in 53.3 overs. The top-scorer for Islamabad was Rizwan Ali, who managed to accumulate 36 runs from 113 balls, including a solitary boundary. Farmanullah Khan chipped in with 29 runs from 47 deliveries, featuring four boundaries.

 

The standout performers with the ball for Quetta were Gohar Faiz and Najeebullah Jr, both claiming three wickets each, while Jalat Khan added two crucial dismissals to the tally.

 

In response, Quetta got off to a solid start, reaching 44 runs without losing a wicket after 19 overs. Opener Latifullah Shah played a vital role, anchoring the innings with an unbeaten 31 runs from 62 balls, including three boundaries.

 

This comprehensive performance by Quetta’s bowlers and their steady start with the bat puts them in a promising position as they look to secure a crucial victory in the Hanif Mohammad Trophy.

 

Meanwhile, Abbottabad Displays Bowling Mastery against Hyderabad

 

In another exciting match at the Sheikh Khalifa Sports Complex in Rahim Yar Khan, Abbottabad showcased their bowling prowess against Hyderabad.

 

Hyderabad’s decision to bat first did not go as planned, as they were bundled out for a modest 128 runs in 53.1 overs. Daniyal Hussain Rajput was the lone fighter for Hyderabad, scoring 48 runs from 143 balls, which included six boundaries. Spinner Fayyaz Khan led the charge for Abbottabad with a remarkable four-wicket haul, while Khalid Usman and Adil Naz picked up three wickets each.

 

In response, Abbottabad posted 118 runs, losing four wickets in the process. Anees Azam Khan (53) and Mohammad Arif (42) played crucial innings, with Azam Khan smashing 53 runs from 44 balls, including eight boundaries and a six. Jawad Ali, who performed well with the bat earlier, continued his good form by taking three wickets for Hyderabad. Majid Asghar added one wicket to his name.

 

Abbottabad’s solid performance with the ball and their composed batting effort have set the stage for an intriguing finish in this encounter of the Hanif Mohammad Trophy.
