Rabab Hashim’s Honest Portrayal of Fariya is Keeping us Hooked to ‘Qarar’

A name that we have seen making it to our feed every day recently, Rabab Hashim is sure getting a lot of attention for her new drama Qarar that went on air last month.  While she also celebrates a major event in her personal life, there is much to be happy about her professional status as well. In Qarar’s Fariya, she is perhaps playing one of the best characters of her career.

Given the diverse range of roles she has played, this is a big statement. But so far, we feel that her honest portrayal of Fariya has kept the audiences hooked. The young starlet has been able to garner sympathy for this innocent and hardworking young girl, who faces challenges on multiple fronts. It’s not just her past, but her present and future are also quite difficult.

Rabab has been successful in showing the difficult journey she has gone through since her parents’ passing. She carries the pain of someone who isn’t getting the respect and love she deserves. This is something that is essential for her character. The contrast of how Fariya and how Maya (Sanam Jung), playing her cousin sister, behaves and acts is the crux of the drama. This underpins the whole story. It showcases how people can be cruel even when they have spent decades together. Fairness and equality can become an alien concept if one is truly blinded by any external factors.

It will be interesting to see what turns and twists we will see in the future. The setup has been impressive, and we can perhaps see a few more conflicts. Fariya’s life perhaps isn’t going to get any easier any time soon. How Rabab Hashim channels that angst and frustration will make or break the drama. On current evidence, we have complete confidence that she will deliver and keep the audiences engaged. More of the same, please.
