Rain Disrupts Play on Day Two of QeAT 2023-2024 Second Round Matches

Cricket enthusiasts witnessed rain-interrupted action on the second day of the QeAT 2023-2024 second round matches, with some games being severely affected by the inclement weather.

Lahore Whites v Rawalpindi

The encounter between Lahore Whites and Rawalpindi at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore had Lahore comfortably placed with a score of 349/3 by the end of the previous day’s play, under the leadership of Saad Naseem. Unfortunately, rain played spoilsport, allowing only 10.3 overs of play before it was called off for the day. Lahore Whites managed to add 58 runs to their total before stumps were called at 4:45 pm. They concluded the day at 407/3, putting them in a strong position.

Karachi Whites v Faisalabad

Karachi Whites, facing off against Faisalabad, had finished the previous day at 141/1, with Omair Bin Yousaf and Ammad Alam unbeaten at the crease. However, persistent rain delays disrupted play, and the action could only commence officially at 4:00 pm. During the shortened day, both Omair and Ammad lost their wickets, along with the removal of Rameez Aziz. Danish Aziz also couldn’t contribute significantly. Veteran Asad Shafiq and Sarfaraz Ahmed were at the crease by the end of the day, with Karachi standing at 203/5.

Peshawar v Multan

At the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, Peshawar faced Multan, but wet outfield conditions forced a complete washout on the second day. No play was possible, leaving both teams eager to get back on the field when conditions improve.

FATA v Lahore Blues

In the clash between FATA and Lahore Blues, Lahore won the toss and opted to field first. The Imran Butt-led FATA side struggled in the first innings, managing just 140 runs. Salman Khan Jnr top-scored with 40 runs, while Mohammad Wasim Khan contributed 23 runs. Lahore Blues’ collective bowling effort saw Hunain Shah taking three wickets, Hussain Talat claiming two, and one wicket each for Waqas Ahmed, Kashif Bhatti, and Ali Shafiq.

With a 140-run lead, Lahore Blues began their batting innings but faced challenges at the top of the order. The day concluded with Lahore Blues at 83/4. Qasim Akram and Hussain were the unbeaten batsmen at the crease when stumps were called.

Despite the rain interruptions, the QeAT 2023-2024 second round matches have provided cricket fans with moments of excitement and anticipation, with teams looking forward to seizing opportunities when conditions permit.
