Ravi Bopara’s all round performance with the bat and the ball helped Karachi Kings beat Lahore Qalandars by 27 runs in their HBL PSL match at Sharjah on Friday.

The English cricketer scored an unbeaten 71 runs and took six wickets in the match to seal the game for his team.

Karachi Kings, being invited to bat, scored 178/5 in their 20 overs. Apart from Bopara, opener Nauman Anwar made 35 runs for the team while skipper Shoaib Malik also scored 27 runs from 25 balls. Zafar Gohar and Zohaib Khan took two wickets for Lahore Qalandars.

The Qalandars could manage 151/8 in their 20 overs. Their batting was cruising at 98/2 but fell apart after Bopara was introduced into the bowling attack.

Apart from openers Cameron Delport and Chris Gayle, no Qalandars batsman could contribute to the side with the blade. Delport was the top-scorer for the team with 55 runs while Gayle made 37 runs.

Ravi Bopara was dimissed Mohammad Rizwan, Hammad Azam and Naved Yasin in the 16th over. He ended up with six wickets in his four overs. Sohail Khan and Usama Mir got a wicket each as well.
