Just recently, actor Reema Khan was targeted for her stance on the Turkish drama series, Dirilis Ertugrul. The majority of the audience said that she’s against the airing and promotion of the Turkish series on our national TV channel.
However, as her statement provoked many Pakistanis, Reema decided to come forward and clarify her statement. Reema mentioned that she was misquoted, and her comment was taken out of context and that she did not say such a thing.
Here is what she said:
”I am not against the drama nor the history it presents. It is not possible that I would ever go against a positive portrayal of Islamic history. Be it a show from Turkey, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, or even from enemy states, I would always support it when our history is shown in a positive light.”
Moreover, she said that she’s okay with Pakistan promoting their shows, but the other countries should also encourage our shows. She further added that Pakistan should have a barter deal with those countries in terms of promoting each other’s content.
Dirilis Ertugrul is a Turkish historical fiction series; full of adventure. The series was available on Netflix initially but has recently aired on Pakistan Television. The series has been considered one of the best sets of its kind as it is based on Islamic history. However, as the series continues to receive all the love and praise, there are a few who stand against this show and have their reservations.
Speaking of those who against it, earlier, famous Pakistani film actor Shaan Shahid also expressed his two cents in a tweet.

Moreover, a day later, Shaan Shahid reached out to PM Imran Khan to make a request. He said that PTV, in the association, should produce original content such as Haider Ali, Tipu Sultan, and many more.

To support her fellow celebrity friend, recently, Reema Khan, in her Ramadan transmission, spoke in favor of what Shaan Shahid had said about the Turkish series. She said that she fully supports Shaan and wants the government to support local artists.
She further said that airing this show on a private channel is a different story, but this indeed should not have been broadcast on a national channel. Furthermore, she said that we need to support our local artists who are sitting in their homes and give them a chance.
