[Review] JazzX JS700 - A Decent Phone in Budgeted Handset Options

JazzX by Mobilink mobile handsets were launched last month, tough the mobile handsets still need to make the kind of stir in the market as the print ad of the brand made featuring Nargis Fakhri. We have used the prime handset of the JazzX family JS700 and here is what we thought about the phone.

Long story short in the price of PKR 7,999 JS700 is not a bad phone choice at all considering the size and feel the handset has. The outlook of the handset is striking and the design feels to be good.

Hardware

Jazz X JS700 is the uppermost end model in the JazzX line-up, however, it has all the basic specifications that a decent smartphone has there is nothing really extraordinary about it. It has 1GB RAM with MediaTek Dual-Core 1.2 GHz processor which has fairly decent performance if you have usage restricted to browsing and regular smartphone apps. Phone supports dual sim and the memory can be extended up to 32 GB through SD card. The positive aspect it that the phone supports regular sized SIM one does not have to get the sim card re-sized to be fit in the phone. The jet black color is a bit turnoff, however, the overall design feel and experience of usage is quite good. 8 out of 10 on that.

Display

With a 5 inches display JS700 is quite a phone in terms of screen size however the display pixels will not be very striking for you if you are expecting a Samsung Galaxy or iPhone like desplay. JS700 supports up to 72p display videos easily and videos look quite good. The screen brightness and its effect on visual senses is quite good. The response of screen and touch works failry well. One can give 7 out of 10 for that.

One-handed use

Screen size is big, hence the overall device size is huge which makes it not an ideal phone to be used with one hand. However, it can be used with one hand but not quite effectively so for that 4 out of 10.

Software

JazzX JS700 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and supports all the features that the OS offers, it also comes with pre-installed games and popular apps such as Facebook, Instagram, Whats-app which makes the phone pretty much ready right after switching it on. For that we can give it 8 out of 10.

Camera

Camera is one of the biggers turn down of the device. Tough the phone has a camera of five mega pixels supporting video recoring too along with flash, and then there is a front camera of 2 megapixels. On paper it seems to be quite allright but the result of camera is quite terrible and image stabilization is almost none. For this phone gets 2.5 out of 10.

Battery life

With 2,000 mAh battery JS700 is quite a decently powerful app in terms of battery life. With the excessive usage battery can last in like 6-7 hours, on standby it can last unto 2-3 days. However with decent usage it can last for nearly a whole working day. For that it gets 6 out of 10.

Overall

Overall the JazzX JS700 is quite a decent phone in the price of less than 8000 Pakistani rupees. One can run all the apps that is needed in a regular day such as social networking, email, whatsapp. The call quality is quite alright messaging and keypad feels good. And in a nut shell it’s a decent phone that one can use as a backup, and it can be a good phone for those who are shifting to smartphones from feature phone, or those who want to have a decent smartphone or ‘touch-phone’ just for the sake of experiencing it.
