Review: Sirf Tum – A Promising Romantic Family Drama with New On-Screen Chemistry

GEO TV’s latest offering, “Sirf Tum,” is a romantic-family drama that weaves an enthralling love story. The drama brings together a fresh and exciting on-screen pairing of Anmol Baloch and Hamza Sohail, adding more excitement for the viewers. Anmol, known for her impressive work in various projects, is joined by Hamza Sohail, who gained a devoted fan following through his Ramzan rom-com drama, “Fairytale.”

Written by Seema Munaf and directed by Mazhar Moin, “Sirf Tum” is a quintessential 7th Sky Entertainment production, featuring larger-than-life frames, a breathtaking set, and a dreamy and sizzling on-screen chemistry between the lead actors.

The plot of “Sirf Tum” revolves around the love story of two cousins, Hanan (played by Hamza Sohail) and Abeer (played by Anmol Baloch). Brought up in a joint family, Hanan is portrayed as a romantic and mature individual dedicated to his studies. Abeer, on the other hand, lives abroad with her mother and stepfather.

The drama begins with Hanan and his cousin Hamza (played by Mohsin Abbas), who share a home. Hanan, shy and introverted, has a crush on a girl at his university but lacks the confidence to approach her, instead focusing on his studies. Abeer, the only child, lives abroad and shares a close bond with her mother but has a strained relationship with her stepfather. The story unfolds when Abeer’s stepfather makes inappropriate advances towards her, leading her and her mother to hastily return to Pakistan, where Abeer’s grandmother suggests she marry either Hanan or Hamza.

The rest of the cast includes Sakina Khan, Fazila Kazi, Hiba Aziz, Erum Akhter, Ayesha Gul, Sabiha Hashmi, Akber Islam, Zia Gurchani, and Salma Asim, adding depth to the narrative.

The first episode of “Sirf Tum” ends with a captivating cliffhanger as Hanan and Abeer interact for the first time, leaving the audience eagerly awaiting the next episode. While the on-screen time shared by the lead actors is limited in the initial episode, the teasers and OST promise a compelling chemistry that viewers will undoubtedly root for.

Hamza Sohail’s return after “Fairytale” has elevated expectations from his fans, and they hope he dazzles the audience with his performance in “Sirf Tum.”

However, “Sirf Tum” seems to tread familiar territory with its love story between cousins who are forced to marry each other. As viewers, we hope GEO TV brings originality to plots that engage our attention, just as they did with recent hits like “Tere Bin” and “Jhoom.”

Moreover, we eagerly await more empowering female leads in dramas like “Sirf Tum.” Anmol’s character, Abeer, had limited dialogues and was shown to have little agency against her stepfather’s inappropriate actions. It would be refreshing to witness female characters who are career-oriented and have aspirations and goals of their own.

Overall, “Sirf Tum” appears to be a promising watch for viewers who enjoy romantic family-oriented dramas set in lavish and captivating frames. With the potential for a strong on-screen chemistry and the anticipation surrounding Hamza Sohail’s performance, “Sirf Tum” has all the elements to captivate its audience. However, it remains to be seen how the drama unfolds and whether it brings fresh perspectives to its storyline.
