Sadia Iqbal Climbs to Number Four in ICC Women’s T20I Bowlers Rankings

Following an impressive victory in a three-match T20I series against New Zealand, the Pakistan women’s cricket team continues to make waves by securing notable positions in the ICC Women’s rankings.

Sadia Iqbal, the proficient left-arm spinner, played an instrumental role in Pakistan’s triumph against the White Ferns in the T20I series. Her exceptional performance has catapulted her to the prestigious fourth position in the ICC Women’s T20I rankings. With 29 wickets in 28 T20Is, Sadia’s outstanding bowling prowess, including her best figures of three wickets for 19 runs against Bangladesh in 2019, earned her this recognition. Additionally, she has climbed six places to secure the 34th spot in the ODI rankings.

Acknowledging Sadia’s consistent brilliance, she was shortlisted for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for November. Her counterpart, Nashra Sundhu, another left-arm spinner, has also made her mark by securing the eighth position in the ICC Women’s T20 rankings. Nashra boasts an impressive record of 53 wickets in 51 T20Is and has risen to the 13th spot in the ODI rankings.

Furthermore, Pakistan’s captain, Nida Dar, holds the fifth position among all-rounders in ICC Women’s T20I rankings, alongside the 18th position in bowling.

In a significant stride in the ICC Women’s ODI rankings, Sidra Amin displayed a notable rise, advancing three places to the 21st spot, owing to her remarkable century (105 runs off 117 balls, including 12 boundaries) against the White Ferns. Sidra has been a pivotal player in the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25, amassing 852 runs from 16 matches at an impressive average of 65.53, including three centuries and four half-centuries.

Mr. Zaka Ashraf, Chairman PCB Management Committee, expressed immense pride in the women cricketers’ progress on the global stage. He highlighted the historic win against New Zealand and emphasized the dedication and hard work exhibited by the players.

Tania Mallick, Head of Women’s Cricket, expressed her delight at the players’ accomplishments, underscoring the progress in promoting and nurturing women’s cricket in Pakistan. She hailed the rankings as a testament to the players’ skills, determination, and the growing competitiveness in women’s cricket.

The elevation of Pakistan’s women cricketers in the ICC rankings signifies the rising stature of the team on the international stage, setting the stage for more triumphs and milestones in the future.
