Sahibzada Farhan Named Captain of Pakistan Shaheens for Bangladesh ‘A’ Series in Australia

Sahibzada Farhan has been appointed as the captain of Pakistan Shaheens for their two four-day matches against Bangladesh ‘A’. The matches are set to take place in Darwin, Australia, from 19 to 29 July.

28-year-old Sahibzada Farhan has previously represented Pakistan in five T20 Internationals. The right-handed batter has a significant domestic career, having played 58 first-class matches where he scored 4,401 runs, including eight centuries and 27 half-centuries.

Alongside the four-day matches, Pakistan Shaheens will also participate in two 50-over matches and a nine-team T20 tournament in Darwin. The captain for the white-ball series will be announced at a later date.

The 15-member red-ball squad is scheduled to depart for Darwin in the early hours of Saturday from Karachi via Dubai. Notably, fast bowler Hunain Shah has been replaced by spinner Faisal Akram due to a back injury.

Pakistan red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie will accompany the team to Darwin as the head coach. Gillespie, a former Australian fast bowler, will return to Pakistan in the first week of August following the conclusion of the second four-day match on 29 July. Upon his return, he will resume his role as the national side’s head coach and begin preparations for the two-Test series against Bangladesh, set to be played in Rawalpindi and Karachi.

The white-ball squad will be overseen by Abdul Rehman, who will join the team on 28 July.
