Sarfaraz Ahmed ruled out of 2nd Test with concussion; Mohammad Rizwan replaces him

Sarfaraz Ahmed was ruled out of the ongoing second Test against Sri Lanka with concussion after being hit on the head while ducking a bouncer by Asitha Fernando on day three.

Match referee David Boon accepted Pakistan’s request for a concussion substitute and Mohammad Rizwan came in to bat for Sarfaraz.

Sarfaraz was taken to the hospital for scans and remained under the observation of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s medical panel.

Rizwan, who is vice-captain of Test squad and Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batsman, is a capable batsman and will be a valuable addition to the team.

He has scored 1,921 runs in 36 Tests at an average of 38.71, with five centuries and 10 half-centuries.

Rizwan will be hoping to make a significant contribution to Pakistan’s batting in the second Test.

The match is scheduled to end on July 29.
