In a significant development ahead of the Men’s ODI Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan’s cricket team has announced a valuable addition to their squad. Left-handed batter Saud Shakeel has been included as the latest member of the 17-player roster. While this move strengthens the team’s batting lineup, the right-handed batter Tayyab Tahir has been retained as a travelling reserve.
Led by skipper Babar Azam, the Pakistani squad is scheduled to touch down in Multan on Sunday, 27 August. Following their arrival, the team will enjoy a day of rest, allowing the players an opportunity to recharge before the competition. The management has also granted some well-deserved relaxation to those players who participated in the Lankan Premier League.
On the upcoming Sunday, Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, and Naseem Shah are set to make their way to Lahore, where they will subsequently join the rest of the squad on Monday evening. The team’s preparations will kick into full gear on Tuesday, 29 August, when the players convene at the Multan Cricket Stadium for a training session. This training window, scheduled from 1630 to 1930, will be preceded by a pre-series media conference conducted by none other than the Pakistan captain himself.
With anticipation building, Pakistan is geared up to open their campaign in the Asia Cup against Nepal on 30 August. Cricket enthusiasts and fans alike eagerly await the showdown, marking the beginning of what promises to be an exhilarating tournament.
