Following the conclusion of the thrilling Pakistan Super League 9, Islamabad United’s Shadab Khan has been appointed as the captain of the prestigious PSL 9 Team of the Tournament. The selection panel, led by Usman Wahla (Director – International Cricket), comprised independent members Danny Morrison, Mark Butcher, Tariq Saeed, and Urooj Mumtaz.
Shadab Khan, who led Islamabad United to their third title in the tournament, was also honored as the Player of the Tournament for his outstanding all-round performance. The 25-year-old cricketer amassed 305 runs and bagged 14 wickets from 12 matches, showcasing his prowess with both bat and ball.
Joining Shadab Khan in the PSL 9 Team of the Tournament are two of his Islamabad United teammates, Imad Wasim and Naseem Shah. Imad Wasim’s pivotal contributions with both bat and ball played a crucial role in United’s triumphant campaign, while Naseem Shah’s impactful performances with the ball added depth to the team’s bowling attack.
Multan Sultans, the finalists of the tournament, have the highest representation in the team, with five players making the cut. Notable among them are Usman Khan, Chris Jordan, and David Willey, who showcased stellar performances throughout the tournament.
Other standout performers in the team include Karachi Kings’ emerging category player Muhammad Irfan Khan, Peshawar Zalmi’s formidable opening pair Babar Azam and Saim Ayub, and Multan Sultans’ skipper Mohammad Rizwan.
