Pakistan’s Shaheen Afridi achieved a special milestone in T20 cricket as he completed 200 wickets in the format during the fifth T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand at the Pindi Cricket Stadium on Monday.
The 23-year-old left-arm pacer has become the youngest and quickest fast bowler to achieve the landmark in just 143 matches. South African pacer Kagiso Rabada held the previous record, having taken 146 matches to complete 200 T20 wickets.
Shaheen Afridi achieved the feat in style, removing New Zealand’s Tom Latham on his very first delivery in the match. With this achievement, Shaheen Afridi has joined the elite list of bowlers who have taken 200 or more wickets in T20 cricket.
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan holds the top spot on the list of bowlers who are the quickest to claim 200 T20 wickets, having achieved the milestone in just 134 matches. Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal is second on the overall list with 139 matches, followed by Shaheen Afridi, Kagiso Rabada, and Umar Gul.
