Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi and his wife, Ansha Afridi, have been blessed with their first child, a baby boy named Ali Yar. The Afridi family shared the joyful news on social media on Saturday, receiving an outpouring of congratulations and well-wishes from fans and fellow cricketers worldwide.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and numerous cricketers extended their heartfelt congratulations to the couple. Shaheen’s transition into fatherhood comes during a significant period as he is currently representing Pakistan in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi.
Shaheen and Ansha’s journey into parenthood had been anticipated since July, when reports emerged that the couple was expecting their first child. At that time, Pakistan’s red-ball coach, Jason Gillespie, hinted that Shaheen might miss the Test series due to the upcoming birth. However, Shaheen has continued to play in the first Test and is expected to depart for Karachi after its conclusion. He plans to rejoin the team ahead of the second Test, scheduled to start on August 30.
Shaheen and Ansha’s relationship has been in the public eye since their engagement in 2021. Their nikah ceremony took place in a private event in February 2023, followed by week-long wedding festivities and Ansha’s rukhsati in September 2023.
