Pakistan U19 took a commanding lead over Bangladesh U19 on day two of their solitary four-day match in Chattogram, thanks to a brilliant century by opener Shahzaib Khan.
Resuming their first innings on 76 for no loss, Pakistan’s opening pair of Shahzaib and Azan Awais added 18 runs before Azan was dismissed for 40. Shahzaib was then joined by Shamyl Hussain, and the duo added 78 runs for the second wicket before Shamyl was dismissed for 38.
Despite losing a few quick wickets, Shahzaib remained at the crease and built a strong partnership with Obaid Shahid, adding 131 runs for the fifth wicket. During this partnership, Shahzaib reached his century in the 67th over, scoring 174 off 323 deliveries with 25 fours and four sixes. Obaid was unbeaten on 62 at the end of the day as Pakistan finished on 364 for seven in 116 overs.
For Bangladesh U19, Wasi Siddiquee took four wickets for 64, while Iqbal Hussain bagged two wickets for 68. Earlier, Bangladesh U19 were bowled out for 149 in their first innings, with Amir Hassan taking four wickets for 29 runs, and Mohammad Ismail and Ali Asfand taking three and two wickets, respectively.
With a commanding lead of 215 runs, Pakistan U19 is in a strong position going into day three.
