Shahzaib Khan’s brilliant unbeaten century propelled Pakistan U19 to a commanding eight-wicket victory over Bangladesh U19 in the fourth one-day match at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi. With this win, Pakistan U19 secured an unassailable 3-1 lead in the five-match series.
Chasing a target of 200 runs, the opening duo of Shahzaib and Azan Awais provided a solid foundation with a 152-run partnership. Azan, who had scored a century in the second one-day match, contributed a valuable 52 off 91 deliveries, including seven boundaries. He was the first to depart, leaving Pakistan U19 at 167 for two in the 32nd over.
Shamyl Hussain (7) joined Azan briefly before being dismissed. However, captain Saad Baig joined forces with Shahzaib to guide their team to victory with an unbroken 35-run stand for the third wicket. Shahzaib showcased his batting prowess and reached a remarkable century, remaining unbeaten on 105 off 105 deliveries, smashing 14 fours and one six.
Earlier, Bangladesh U19 were bowled out for 199 in 46.4 overs after being put into bat. Ariful Islam top-scored for his team with a patient 50 off 95 balls, including four boundaries and one six.
Pakistan U19’s Aimal Khan and Ali Asfand shone with the ball, claiming three wickets each, while Arafat Minhas contributed with two crucial dismissals.
The fifth and final match of the series will take place at the same venue on Monday, 15 May. Pakistan U19, having already won the four-day match convincingly, will aim to conclude the 50-over series with a comprehensive 4-1 victory.
