TV anchor and presenter Shajia Niazi has returned to TV screen with her new TV programme, Bakamal on Suno TV. Shajia’s new show is totally different from her previous TV projects. She was previously a part of the state broadcaster, Pakistan Television as a programme anchor.
Suno TV issued the promo of the new show on Sunday.
The show is on the lines of ‘a day in the life’ concept where Shajia will be meeting some Bakamal i.e exceptionally talented and renowned individuals from Pakistan. In the maiden edition of the show, hugely popular singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was the guest.
Shajia has been associated with Jang Geo group as a journalist and later as a programme host. Her shot to fame was hosting the show Mere Mutabiq which she hosted for nearly six years. In 2020, she parted ways with Geo News and in 2021 she joined 92 News for a brief stint. On 92 News HD she hosted Thursday-Sunday 11 pm slot programme Harf-e-Akhir. After leaving 92 News, Shajia took a break from the media to spend time with her daughter.
She remained active on social media, when she was away from the TV screen, and established herself as a social media influencer as well. Last year, Shajia ended her sabbatical and joined PTV as programme anchor of Voice of Overseas, a weekend show that aired on PTV News as well as PTV Global.
Hailing from Mianwali, Shajia Niazi holds an M.Phil degree in Research track Journalism. She started her journalism career with Daily Jang and remained with the newspaper till 2014. In 2014, she moved to the group’s TV channel Geo News where she hosted the news analysis show Mere Mutabiq with Sohail Waraich and Hasan Nisar.
Besides being a TV personality, Shajia is also very active in social work and activism.
