Sharjeel Khan’s Unbeaten 89 Guides Ghani Glass to Victory in President’s Trophy

The eighth round of the President’s Trophy Grade-I continued to produce gripping cricket as teams battled for crucial wins across Karachi. Ghani Glass emerged victorious against State Bank of Pakistan, thanks to a masterclass from Sharjeel Khan, while KRL’s imposing total left Eshaal Associates with a mountain to climb.

Sharjeel’s Unbeaten Knock Seals the Deal

At UBL Sports Complex, Ghani Glass had a straightforward chase of 153, but their pursuit was anything but smooth. Sharjeel Khan, however, had other ideas. The attacking left-hander played with flair, cutting through the SBP bowling attack with a stunning 89 not out, ensuring his side crossed the finish line with five wickets to spare.

Earlier in the day, SBP collapsed for 123 in their second innings, unable to counter the relentless pace of Mir Hamza, who claimed six for 41. With the ball dictating terms, the match looked set for a tense finish, but Sharjeel’s commanding presence ensured there were no late hiccups.

PTV Left with a Chase as OGDCL Fight Back

Over at NBP Sports Complex, OGDCL refused to back down despite an early setback. Abdul Rehman Muzammil’s gritty 82 guided them to 249 in their second innings, setting up a 255-run target for Pakistan Television. With only six overs left in the day, PTV openers survived a tricky phase under fading light, reaching 13 without loss.

KRL Pile on the Runs, Eshaal Left with a Monumental Task

At State Bank Stadium, KRL’s batting powerhouse continued to dominate, with Muhammad Awais Zafar and Sharoon Siraj both registering centuries. Their second-innings declaration at 335/5 left Eshaal Associates staring at a near-impossible target of 490.

Eshaal Associates started their chase cautiously, reaching 23 for one at stumps, but they will need a miracle on the final day to avoid defeat.

WAPDA and HEC Lock Horns in a Tight Contest

Meanwhile, at KCCA Stadium, WAPDA found themselves in a battle of attrition against Higher Education Commission. After conceding a 63-run first-innings lead, WAPDA showed resilience in their second innings, reaching 213 for five at stumps. Yahya Bin Abdul Rehman’s 57 anchored the innings, but the game remains in the balance heading into the final day.

What’s Next?
With one day remaining in the round, Ghani Glass have already secured victory, but the remaining contests promise plenty of drama. Can PTV chase down 255? Will Eshaal Associates produce a batting miracle? The President’s Trophy is far from over.
