Sidra Iqbal who has previously hosted many TV shows for various TV cchannelssuch as Dawn, PTV, Business Plus, and Aaj News stepped in this project with good amount of experience. While talking about the main idea behind this new show Sawal Hai Vote Ka she said:

” The main idea behind the show is to take a closer look and deeper dive into the political landscape The days leading to the elections are abuzz with new developments. The idea is to connect the contexts and present a macro perspective.”

Talking about the challenges to conduct a TV show like Sawal Hai Vote ka, Sidra Iqbal said:

“One of the key challenges is to strike a balance between factual information and the analysis. It is important to keep is ethical and not impose opinions as facts. Moreover, the prevalent conspiracy theories and fake news make it more critical to verify every bit of information.”

In the election season, almost every channel comes up with such TV programmes. Sidra Iqbal explained that how her show is  going to be different:

“My show endeavors to focus on informed analysis that links the headlines and breaking news to the real subjects of national interest. It is not a news show, it strives to cut the plethora of data and information to present crisp analysis and achieve some consensus, conclusion or at least perspective through engaging dialogue.”

Talking about the issue of youth and urban population not being motivated enough to come out and cast their vote, Sidra Iqbal said:

Encourahing people to vote for the most suitable candidate is the core message. In fact its a challenge too, because the analysis can be a double edged sword, uncovering information that may dissuade voters. Yet we work with the objective of encouraging informed voting and aware political support based on party manifesto.

Upon asking will we continue seeing you on TV after the elections, with some other show, she replied:

“Yes indeed, the show is launched as an election special but we plan to continue with the late evening (11pm) regular show post Elections Inshallah.”

The TV show Sawal hai Vote Ka airs every Monday to Thursday on Aaj News at 11pm.
