Pakistan’s first of its kind event “School of Tomorrow – International Education and Cultural Festival 2015” is going to be held this weekend, however, it is already making news because of its amazing jam packed over 50 sessions conducted by over 140 international and local speakers. The team of MediaSpring PK looked at the list of the speakers & sessions and could not resists to be thrilled about it.

This post is specially dedicated to the Power Women of Pakistani Media Industry who are part of #SOT2015 (Official Hashtag of School of Tomorrow Festival) as speaker or panel discussion moderators. Therefore, here is the list of those power women of Pakistani Media Industry who are speaking/moderating at the School of Tomorrow Festival taking place at Beach Luxury Hotel in Karachi on 28th and 29th November 2015.

1.    Salima Hashmi

Professor Salima Hashmi was the Dean at the School of Visual Art and Design at Beaconhouse National University, Lahore. She taught at the National College of Arts, Lahore, Pakistan’s premier art college, for 31 years. She also served as Minister of Health, Population Welfare, Women Development, Youth Affairs, Sports, Archeology and Tourism during the interim civil government of Punjab in 2013.

At SOT 2015 Salima Hashmi is part of panel discussion on “Roles of Graphic Design, Comics & Illustration in Education”.

2.    Vaneeza Ahmad

Vaneeza Ahmad Ali has been the face of Pakistan fashion industry and the supermodel & actress. She graduated from Kinnaird College with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Vaneeza made her acting debut in Jamal Shah’s flick Kal and has since acted in plays such as Tum Hi Tau Ho, Janey Anjaney and Tum Say Mil Ker. She also runs a lawn label under her name.

At SOT 2015 Vaneeza Ahmad is part of panel discussion on healthy food and its importance & how it can be fun.

3.    Ayesha Tammy Haq

Ayesha Tammy Haq hosts 24seven, a current affairs talk show on Business Plus, where she has not just interviewed presidents, prime ministers and political leaders but those who advise on and formulate policy. She also writes opinion pieces for several newspapers and publications and hosts a radio show on FM89.

4.    Gharida Farooqi

Pakistan’s leading news anchor Gharida Farooqi, has worked with all the major news media outfits of Pakistan such as PTV, ATV, Dunya TV, Geo News, and Samaa TV. Gharidah Farooqi has also worked for ISPR as Media Analyst. Currently Gharida is associated with Express News a Senior Anchor Person. Gharidah Farooqi hosts current affairs program “G for Gharidah“.

5.    Nadia Jamil

Nadia Jamil is a TV actress, anchor, producer and an educationist. She has worked in numerous TV serials, telefilms and hosted a variety of shows. Nadia hosted Jago Dunya on Dunya News. She is quite vocal about the role of civil society and individual to bring improvement the way things are being run in Pakistan.

At SOT 2015 Nadia Jamil is moderating a panel discussion titled “Freedom of Expression: What sets the boundaries?”

6.    Zebunnisa Burki

Zebunnisa Burki is the deputy editor of the Oped pages of the English daily, The News. Trained both as a media practitioner and a lawyer, she has worked in editorial positions for the past 12 years. Zebunnisa also teaches media studies, business communications and current affairs to undergraduate and MBA students. In 2009, she founded the largest network of women media persons in the SAARC region, South Asian Women in Media (SAWM).

At SOT 2015 Zebunnisa Burki is moderating a panel discussion titled “Are media & technology controlling global thinking?”
