The President’s Trophy Grade I 2023-24 witnessed a dramatic turn of events as Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) secured a resounding 109-run victory against Higher Education Commission (HEC) in the seventh round. With this triumph, SNGPL has clinched a spot in the tournament final, poised to take on Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) in a high-stakes showdown set to kick off on 27th January.
In a captivating clash at the State Bank Stadium, Karachi, SNGPL demonstrated their dominance as they successfully defended a challenging target. Despite HEC’s valiant efforts, they fell short by 109 runs, succumbing to SNGPL’s formidable bowling attack.
Skipper Saad Khan showcased resilience with a gritty knock of 65 runs, supported by Mohammad Awais Zafar’s well-crafted half-century. However, the relentless bowling assault led by Shahnawaz Dahani dismantled HEC’s batting lineup, ultimately restricting them to a total of 264 runs.
Dahani emerged as the hero of the match, wreaking havoc with his lethal bowling spell to claim a remarkable five-wicket haul. His stellar performance, complemented by contributions from Mohammad Awais Anwar and Mubasir Khan, propelled SNGPL to a convincing victory and secured their berth in the final showdown.
As the President’s Trophy approaches its climax, anticipation runs high for the epic clash between SNGPL and WAPDA. With both teams brimming with talent and determination, cricket enthusiasts can expect a thrilling contest as they battle it out for the prestigious title.
