Sri Lanka U19 to Tour Pakistan for Exciting Bilateral Series

In a thrilling development for cricket enthusiasts, the Sri Lanka U19 team is set to embark on a tour of Pakistan, scheduled to commence on October 12, 2023. The tour will comprise one four-day match and five one-day matches, all of which will be played at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium. The matches are slated to take place from October 15 to October 31, promising an action-packed cricketing spectacle.

The tour will kick off with a highly anticipated four-day game commencing on October 15 at 1000 PKT, followed by a series of five one-day matches between October 22 and October 31, with the first ball set to be bowled at 0930 PKT.

In accordance with the eligibility criteria set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2024, only players born on or after September 1, 2004, will be eligible for selection.

This tour marks Pakistan U19’s second bilateral series this year, following their successful tour of Bangladesh in April. During that tour, Pakistan U19 participated in a series consisting of one four-day match, five one-dayers, and one T20 encounter, where they clinched victory in all three formats, including a 4-1 win in the five-match one-day series. Additionally, in November of the previous year, Bangladesh U19 toured Pakistan and engaged in a series that included one four-day match, three one-dayers, and two T20 matches in Multan.

Usman Wahla, Director of International Cricket at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), expressed his delight at welcoming the Sri Lanka U19 team to Pakistan for this enthralling bilateral series. He emphasized that the series provides an excellent platform for young talents to showcase their skills and gain invaluable experience in preparation for next year’s ICC U19 World Cup.

Wahla also underscored the PCB’s commitment to nurturing young talent and offering opportunities to the future stars of Pakistan cricket. He extended his best wishes to both teams, expressing his hope that the matches will be played in the true spirit of camaraderie.

The squad and training schedule for the Pakistan U19 team will be announced in due course.
