Super Eight Stage of National T20 Cup 2023-24 Set to Kick Off in Karachi

The highly anticipated Super Eight stage of the National T20 Cup 2023-24 is primed to thrill cricket enthusiasts as it unfolds from 1st to 8th December 2023 across three venues in Karachi – National Bank Stadium, UBL Sports Complex, and NBP Sports Complex.

Eight teams advancing from the group stage will lock horns in a round-robin format, engaging in seven matches each. The top four teams will then vie in the semi-finals slated for 9th December at National Bank Stadium. The pinnacle of the event, the final match, will grace the same venue on 10th December.

In a generous move, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced complimentary entry for spectators attending the matches at National Bank Stadium. Three sections—Hanif Mohammad, Javed Miandad, and Fazal Mahmood—will be accessible to cricket fans.

The Super Eight stage will witness fierce clashes between the following qualified teams: Peshawar and Lahore Whites from Group A, Lahore Blues and Karachi Whites from Group B, Rawalpindi and Abbottabad from Group C, and Sialkot and FATA from Group D.

Among standout performers in the tournament so far, Lahore Whites’ Ahmed Shehzad has been a standout, securing the position of the leading run-scorer with three consecutive half-centuries and a tally of 213 runs from three matches. Rawalpindi’s Zeeshan Malik and Peshawar’s Sahibzada Farhan have both hit centuries, adding to the tournament’s excitement.

Umair Afridi of Islamabad leads the wicket-taking charts with an impressive tally of 12 wickets in four matches, although Islamabad failed to progress to the Super Eight stage. Karachi Whites’ Arif Yaqoob stands out among progressing teams with nine scalps, supported by the brilliant 5-10 performance by Sohail Khan against Hyderabad.

The matches at National Bank Stadium will be aired live on PTV Sports and ARY ZAP within Pakistan and streamed live on PCB’s YouTube channel and Facebook page for international viewers. The games will start at 1500 PKT for afternoon fixtures and 2000 PKT for evening matchups, with tosses occurring 30 minutes prior.

Director of Domestic Cricket Operations, Nadeem Khan, expressed excitement, anticipating heightened competitiveness in the Super Eight stage and setting the stage for an enthralling contest towards the coveted title.

The fixtures for 1st December include Rawalpindi v Abbottabad at UBL Sports Complex, Sialkot v FATA at NBP Sports Complex, Peshawar v Lahore Whites, and Lahore Blues v Karachi Whites, both at National Bank Stadium.

The fervor of the National T20 Cup continues to elevate, promising exhilarating cricket encounters and intensifying the pursuit for the ultimate championship title.
