In a surprising turn of events, renowned news anchor and TV program host, Syeda Ayesha Naz, has made a sudden career move by joining Samaa News, bidding farewell to Suno News where she has been the host of the current affairs analysis show ‘Joint Session’ since October 2022.
Ayesha Naz is set to take on a new challenge at Samaa as the host of their highly anticipated show, ‘Sethi Se Sawal.’ This marks a reunion between Ayesha Naz and the iconic media personality Najam Sethi, as they previously shared the screen on 24 News in a similar format show. Notably, this also signifies Najam Sethi’s return to television after a hiatus of over a year and his additional stint at PCB as the Chairman Executive Committee.

Speaking exclusively to MediaSpringPK about her decision, Ayesha Naz expressed the emotional complexity of bidding farewell to Suno News. She said: “In the midst of bidding farewell to Suno News, where my departure was met with sadness from panelists, staff, and even top-tier leadership, including my best friends Uzma (Nauman) and Ayisha (Zulfiqar), the decision to join Samaa and host ‘Sethi Se Sawal’ was not taken lightly. The emotional tug-of-war between my love for Suno and the exciting opportunity at Samaa, with the prospect of working alongside Najam Sethi sb, was a nail-biting thought process. With a leap of faith, I embraced this new chapter, yet the warmth of Suno News and the cherished bond with Uzma and Ayisha remain etched in my heart like a home sweet home. Having said that I have nothing but appreciation & respect for President Gen (rtd) Sajjad, Chairman Gen (rtd) Arif, and the owner of Suno News Chaudhry Saad Nazir for creating a family environment at suno exemplary for all media houses where employees face exploitation. Moreover, I am grateful to Habib Akram who convinced me to join an employee-friendly organisation
all channels should take notes from Suno in terms of human resource care.”
Prior to joining Suno News, Ayesha Naz had announced her departure from the Najam Sethi Show and 24 News HD in August 2022. She played a significant role as the host of the Joint Session program on Suno News, becoming one of the prominent faces of the channel.
Hailing from Mansehra, Syeda Aesha Naz holds a master’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Punjab. With a career spanning nearly19 years, she has been associated with esteemed TV channels such as Dunya News, Neo TV, 24 News, Waqt News, and Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV).
Ayesha’s journey in the media industry gained momentum at Waqt News, but she reached her prime at Dunya News. Recognized for her calm and composed style of hosting panel-based news analysis and current affairs shows, Ayesha was a key part of Dunya’s news anchoring team. She launched a programme Voice of Dunya with Lord Nazir and Dr Moeed back in 2014, a renowned show for Europe, UK, and USA viewers, where later Dr Hassan Askari & Khaawar Ghumman replaced the aforementioned analysts. She later took over the host’s role of the hugely popular current affairs show Think Tank on Dunya News.
In early 2021, Ayesha Naz parted ways with Dunya News for personal reasons, taking a brief hiatus from the media. She returned to the screen in May 2021 with a fresh perspective, joining Neo TV as a co-anchor of the chat show G Sarkar with Nauman Ijaz. Despite a short stint with Neo TV, she left the channel after a few months and later returned with the current affairs analysis show on 24 News, where she once again shared the screen with seasoned journalist Najam Sethi.
