G Sarkar was a challenge and risk worth taking: Syeda Ayesha Naz talks about her TV comeback

TV anchor and presenter Syeda Ayesha Naz has been on a break from TV screen since she left her show Think Tank and Dunya News Network. However, recently Neo TV dropped a promo of their new TV show and we saw Syeda Ayesha Naz in it.

The TV host is set to come back on the TV screen with Neo TV’s satire show G Sarkar. G Sarkar is hosted by TV legend Nauman Ijaz and Ayesha is going to be the co-host.

Talking about her come back on screen Ayesha Naz said:

“I got a call from Saim Sheikh the producer of the show, I know him since Waqt TV time, it was good to hear from him after a long time and he told me about his new TV project. Initially, I was not very keen as I wanted to take a long break from TV and learn something new but since due to covid everything is standstill. I went to the meeting and realized that this is different from what I have done in the past but it is something I would like to do. If you follow me on social media you must know that I have a great interest in arts and literature, something that I will be able to express with this show.”

Working with legends like Nauman Ijaz and Honey Albela is a learning experience says the TV host:

“The moment I realized that Nauman Ijaz is hosting the show I was convinced to do it. Because if someone of Nauman’s stature is doing this show then this must be a challenge worth taking. The team is amazing, we have Honey Albela in the mix to add wit in the conversation where my role is going to be the critique of the topic at hand.”

The show and her role is going to be different from her previous TV persona, Ayesha understands that and is ready to take the challenge:

“I know this role is different from what the viewers have seen me doing in the past. But this is not something that I cannot do, current affairs is not the only interest I have. Arts, literature, entertainment, and showbiz are also my areas of interest and this show gives me the opportunity to not only explore that but also exhibit the knowledge I have of these subjects. I have not only read Urdu literature but also I have been a keen follower of magazines and latest trends.

“You may say the role is different from the past but it is also expanded from the previous experience. Also I believe one must keep on taking risks, this helps us gain more experience, exposure, and observation.”

There is going to be comedy and satire but there also going to be critical and not so sugar coated conversation. The team is a very interesting and talented mix as we have writer Gul e Noukhez Akhtar, singer and cultural critique Ali Aftab Saeed, and social media star Marhoom on the panel.”

Hailing from Mansehra, Syeda Aesha Naz holds a masters degree in Mass Communication from the University of the Punjab. In her over 16-year long career, other than her last channel – Dunya News, she has worked in some top TV channels such as Waqt News and Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV).
