Held at Ali Auditorium on the 29th of July, 2018, the oldest TEDx platform in Pakistan, TEDxLahore, hosted its popular annual event, marking 9 years since its launch in 2010.
With speakers such as the famed artist, Dr. Ajaz Anwar, a wildlife biologist, Dr. Uzma Khan, advertising whiz kids, Hira Mohibullah and Moiz Khan (from the award-winning advertising agency, BBDO), an entrepreneur and air pollution expert, Abid Omar, a philanthropist and avid art collector, Amna Naqvi, the CEO of FINCA (a microfinance bank), Mudassar Aqil, Barrister Taimur Malik, and an educationist and writer, Shahzeb Khan, the eclectic group of speakers presented talks which were both awe-inspiring and fascinating.
With its ‘Future Now’ theme, each talk highlighted subjects such as art, advertising, law, finance, health, the environment and education with a future forward approach that touched upon each issue’s current standing and impact in the country today.
From the pressing need to wake up to Pakistan’s current public health crisis – air pollution – to an urgent call for action to help conserve heritage and culture, the talks emphasized crucial questions that are rarely ever asked, inspiring proactive effort for tangible change.
With an audience comprising over 400 individuals (some of whom had traveled to Lahore from other cities, particularly, the capital), TEDxLahore 2018 wrapped up on a high note.
But the core team, led by TEDxLahore’s young curator, Iretza Ubaid, won’t be able to cool their heels just yet as the group is currently working hard towards its forthcoming event, TEDxLahoreWomen (also to be held this year).
