The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced that Mickey Arthur has been appointed as the Director of the Pakistan men’s cricket team. The 54-year-old, who previously served as head coach of the national team from 2016 to 2019, will be responsible for designing, formulating, and overseeing strategies for the team.
Arthur’s new role will also see him working as part of the coaching staff for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, away tour to Australia, home series against the West Indies, and Pakistan’s matches against India in the ACC Asia Cup.
Under his leadership in his previous tenure, Pakistan reached the No.1 spot in Tests and T20Is, and also won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017. Najam Sethi, Chair of PCB Management Committee, expressed his pleasure in Arthur’s appointment, saying that he would play a key role in strengthening the national team culture and identifying future stars to secure Pakistan’s cricketing future.
Mickey Arthur, who is familiar with the current players, structure, and system of the Pakistani cricket team, expressed his excitement about rejoining the team and his commitment to creating an environment that will help the team achieve their full potential.
